SHORT TAKES ON THE DRIFTING WRECKAGE – OVERNIGHT:

OUR CURRENT MORALITY – FROM COLLEGE FIX:    Thirty-four percent of white college student applicants have lied about their race to admissions officials to better their chances of getting accepted into their desired university or receive better financial aid, according to a survey from Intelligent.  The survey of 1,250 white college applicants ages 16 and older found that the most popular racial claim was Native American. Out of the 34 percent of white college applicants who lied about their race, 77 percent were accepted.  “It’s the easiest lie to tell because you can’t get caught in it,” said Vijay Jojo Chokal-Ingam, an admissions consultant at SOSAdmissions.com and author of “Almost Black: The True Story of How I Got Into Medical School By Pretending to Be Black.”  “A lot of people, based on very flimsy reasons, claim to be either African-American, Hispanic or Native American because they know it’s going to improve their chances,” Chokal-Ingam said in an interview with The College Fix.  Though lying on college applications is frowned upon, universities typically do not push back on students about their race. Instead, they accept it regardless of what they look like, he said.  Ah, universities are such sacred, ethical places.  Why, aren't they training tomorrow's leaders?  Tomorrow doesn't look so good.

SHE HAS RETURNED – OVERNIGHT:  Hillary Clinton, that is.  She's been going around the country with her hair combed, dresses cleaned and pressed, and plaster smile in place.  She is a woman on a mission.  Can you guess what that mission is?  From Fox:

Failed Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton on Tuesday praised the legislative accomplishments of President Biden while appearing to claim that everyday Americans didn't understand or "appreciate" them.

During an appearance on MSNBC's "The Rachel Maddow Show," Clinton complained about the successful "exploiting" of social media misinformation by Republicans, blaming the lack of "gatekeepers" and "people with a historic perspective" to help Americans understand what they were seeing.

"You know, democracy is messy. You know, a lot of people got, oh I think, kind of frustrated looking at the messy process of legislation. And they didn’t really appreciate that, within a year, the Biden administration has passed two major pieces of legislation through both the House and the Senate," Clinton said, referencing the coronavirus relief bill and the infrastructure bill that were both signed into law this year.

She also mentioned the massive Democrat-backed social spending bill that passed the House last week but has almost no chance of passing in its current form in the Senate.

"By any measure those are extraordinary accomplishments … But because of the way we are getting our information today, and because of the lack of gatekeepers and people who have a historic perspective who can help us understand what we are seeing, there is a real vulnerability in the electorate to the kind of demagoguery and disinformation that, unfortunately, the other side is really good at exploiting," she added.

Clinton's comments join what appears to be a growing trend by Democrats questioning the perception of Americans when it comes to the economic issues that affect their everyday lives. Democrats are facing a potentially difficult midterm cycle next year following a crushing loss in Virginia's gubernatorial election.

COMMENT:   That pompous, corrupt fool.  She's criticizing us? She blew her own election campaign, then went around the country whining that the election had been stolen.  Now she's whining that Americans don't understand what's actually happening.  Why, most of them didn't even go to Wellesley College.

And what is her mission?  Well, she's one of the few people praising Joe Biden, and I really do believe that she's campaigning to replace Kamala Harris.  If Kammy can be forced out of the vice presidency, Clinton would be an obvious "unifying" candidate to replace her, putting her a heartbeat away from her only goal in life, the presidency.  It's the kind of scheme she would relish.

Watch Clinton carefully.   If Kammy's numbers continue to fall, the vice president may have to walk the plank, or at least be dropped from the 2024 ticket.   That, in my view, is why Hillary is combing her hair these days, and speaking out more and more, even though her sense of superiority reminds us of the hollow creature that has always been inside.

SHORT TAKES ON THE DRIFTING WRECKAGE – OVERNIGHT:

OH NO, THIS IS NOT POSSIBLE – OVERNIGHT,   FROM FOX:    President Biden appeared to read technical instructions from his teleprompter during a Tuesday speech about rising gas prices.  "Because of the actions we've taken, things have begun to change," Biden said.  "End of quote," Biden added before moving on to his next sentence.  Biden's aside came during a speech about rising gas prices and the economy, during which he also delivered a Thanksgiving message...The Biden administration has repeatedly faced accusations that the president is not in charge of his communications. In September, the White House abruptly cut the feed of Biden's briefing on wildfires with federal and state officials in Boise, Idaho.  You know a president is in trouble when he starts reading the stage directions from his own speeches.  Next time, if he says "smile and be sincere" you'll know that things have gone from bad to worse.

CAN YOU BELIEVE THIS STUFF? – OVERNIGHT:  Political correctness isn't getting better, it's getting worse.  Apparently anticipating major losses in next year's midterm elections, and an increasingly hostile public, the proprietors of wokeness are rushing to squeeze in every retrograde article of absurdity that they can before November of next year.  Get this one.  From College Fix:

A pair of academics are warning against use of the term “looting” to describe recent retail thefts in San Francisco.

According to KGO, some area police departments have been using the word regarding incidents at mainly high-end outlets like Louis Vuitton and Burberry. The thefts have resulted in about $1 million in losses.

On Saturday, San Francisco Police Chief Bill Scott said the stores had been “burglarized and looted.”
But also this past weekend, San José Police Department Public Information Officer Christian Camarillo specifically pointed out he wasn’t going to use “looting” to describe the crimes. He referred to them as “organized robbery.”

KGO Race and Social Justice Reporter Julian Glover notes the thefts technically are not “looting” according to California Penal Code. Looting entails thefts during a “state of emergency, local emergency, or evacuation order” as a result of a natural or manmade disaster.

Although no emergencies have been declared in the Bay Area, many of the recent thefts occurred after the Kyle Rittenhouse “not guilty” verdict. The University of New Haven’s Lorenzo Boyd said however that the “massive, organized smash and grabs” were happening before the Rittenhouse verdict, thus any connection to it is a “false equivalency” and an attempt to “politicize crime.”

Boyd also claimed that “looting” typically is used when “people of color or urban dwellers are doing something.”

COMMENTS:  Reminds me of the radical Obama administration's attempts to label terror attacks as "manmade disasters."  He who controls the vocabulary controls the nation.  The left has learned that lesson very well.  Propaganda classes at colleges are labeled "studies" classes.  One scholar told me that if you dropped the word "studies" from college-class descriptions, you could instantly improve the colleges.  And giving students of certain groups higher grades on tests than others are given is called "race norming."

Jesse Waters of Fox suggested, tongue in cheek, that the looters be labeled "reparation hunters."  Good choice.  And burning a city could be called "urban cleansing."

"The left needs two things to survive. It needs mediocrity, and it needs dependence. It nurtures mediocrity in the public schools and the universities. It nurtures dependence through its empire of government programs. A nation that embraces mediocrity and dependence betrays itself, and can only fade away, wondering all the time what might have been."
